Kanji 'Aikido' Necklace
Aikido - Aikido dates back to the early 1920's when Usehiba Morhei, borrowing in part from Daito-ryu Aiki-jujutsu, created what is known as Aikido. The Kanji for Aikido consists of three characters: Ai means Harmony; Ki means Spirit or Life Energy and Do means Path or Way. Together Aikido means - "The Way of the Harmonious Spirit". What makes Aikido unique is it's philosphy to defend without hurting the attacker. "To control agression without inflicting injury is the art of peace." - Ueshiba Morihei. Aiki is the martial arts tactic of blending with an attacker to use the attackers movements for the purpose of controlling but not hurting an attacker. Rather than blocking a punch, the force of the punch is redirected to the defenders benefit. Artist and beautful to watch, the flowing movements of Aikido created by the defender blending and redirecting with the attacker is truly a difficult Martial Art to master. Celebrate all that is Aikido with our Kanji Aikido necklace. (Custom Sizing Available)
