Bushido - Bushido is often referred to as 'The Way of the Warrior' or the 'Code of the Samurai'. Bushido consists of three Kanji characters: 'Bu' means Martial Arts, 'Shi' means Warrior and 'Do' means Path or Way.
The foundation of Bushido consists of seven principles by which all Samurai adherred to: Justice (Gi), Bravery (Yuu), Benevolence (Charity and Compassion) (Jin), Politeness (Courtesy) (Rei), Veracity (Truthfulness) (Makoto), Honor (Meyo) and Loyality (Chuugi).
The Samurai were fierce warriors, skilled in the Martial Arts and the use of the bow and blade - to die in battle was considered the highest honor - to bring shame upon the family or the lord served was considered the greatest sin.
